Not being a bored trader

There’s a post on one of the BabyPips blogs that looks to address the question of boredom in trading. It got me wondering whether boredom is something traders should really ever be feeling.

Stick with me here.

The implication of boredom is that there’s nothing going on to stimulate the trader. Believe me, I can appreciate how difficult it can be for someone who follows the market closely to have to struggle through days when the markets are quiet. If you think trading those days is a challenge, try having to write about the markets on sessions like that. You don’t have to trade. I still have to write. :-(

Here’s what has me wondering about boredom, though. That state of being suggests you’re more concentrated on the market than your trading strategy would seem to dictate. If that’s the case, you should be doing something else until you system or methodology givens you the heads-up that it’s time to pay attention again.

You get what I’m driving at?
