The Essentials of Trading Book Discount Availability

I got a question about my book recently. It speaks to me offering the book for sale at a discounted price myself.

John,

Tomorrow I plan on reading The Essentials of Trading that you wrote, I am sure it has much that can help me, as I have traded for 3.5 yrs, with only decent results, I look to your information as a godsend that can hopefully turn my trading around, I am self taught because mentors are just to expensive for my pocket these past few years, although I reckon maybe a few bucks spent, I might be making more pips than I have.

Anyway, I went to look for the cost of the other 60percent of your book, quite expensive for my pocket once again, is there anywhere I can actually get the other part of your book at minimal costs, as with 3 kids and being out of work, part of the year, there just isnt much money to go around, I dont mean my first email to you to be of this nature, but I hear froma few people that you are sincere and willing to help all traders, so I figured maybe you knew of a resource that might have the other part of your book at minimal cost, thank you in advance if you can find that type of resource, thank you.

H.

First of all, let me say that this person is someone I would not originally have anticipated being a reader of my book. When I wrote it I had the person brand new to the markets in mind. It was only after it came out and I started getting feedback that I found out many people who’d been in the markets for a while already found it very useful. It helped them get on a proper path after having played things in a hit and miss fashion when they got started. It’s a kind of “back to basics” thing.

Getting to the question, the emailer is someone who is viewing the free evaluation PDF edition anyone can request by filling out the form in the sidebar. It provides the table of contents and a couple of the chapters to give you a feel for what the book is about so you can decide if it’s for you. My publisher, Wiley, has allowed me to do that because it can encourage sales of the book.

That, however, is the best I can do. I am not authorized to sell or otherwise release the full PDF version of the book. At the same time, it’s cost prohibitive for me to sell copies of the book myself. Amazon and other retailers can get the title at much cheaper prices than can I and have lower shipping expenses as well. It just makes no sense for me to try to compete with that, especially since Amazon, et al generally discount the book substantially from its $60 list price.

Sorry H. My hands are tied here.
